SALT LAKE CITY — The woman who introduced the Young Women values and Personal Progress program to Latter-day Saint girls, Sister Ardeth Greene Kapp, died Saturday at the age of 93.
Sister Kapp served as the ninth Young Women general president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Church News reported, from 1984 to 1992.
The Personal Progress program she started continued to be used until 2019.
Sister Kapp was born on March 19, 1931, and grew up in a small town in Canada. She met her husband, Heber Kapp, when he was a missionary in her ward, and later reconnected with him while attending Brigham Young High School in Provo, the Church News reported.
The couple was unable to have children, which Sister Kapp said was her "greatest challenge," but she expressed she and her husband were dedicated to making others' lives better and happier.
After serving as the Young Women's president, Sister Kapp served along with her husband as he presided over the Canada Vancouver Mission and they served as president and matron of the Cardston Alberta Temple. Heber Kapp died in 2017 at the age of 91.
