UINTAH, Weber County — The Weber County Sheriff's Office has called off the search for a woman who got swept into the Weber River in May.

Libby Stimpson, 28, was walking her dogs along the riverbank when she was swept into the Weber River on May 1. Multiple witnesses at the river said they saw someone in the water and heard screams. Stimpson's family reported her missing around the same time.

In May, crews set up multiple checkpoints along the shore all the way past Riverdale and sent divers into the water. After a day, crews pivoted from search and rescue to recovery efforts.

Weber County deputies searched for Stimpson again on Saturday and were unable to locate her. The search has now officially been called off.

The water levels are going to increase soon as water management starts releasing water to prepare for winter snow, the sheriff's office said.

"Sweet Libby is a kind and generous woman who gives her strength and light to anyone she encounters," the woman's family said on a GoFundMe* page.
