UINTAH, Weber — Officials are continuing the search for a women who fell into the Weber River Monday evening, although efforts have gone from search and rescue to a possible recovery.
Weber County officials confirmed the 20-year-old woman was caught in the current and seen floating down the Weber River. Several units of police and firefighters were on the scene searching for the woman near 900 E. 6600 South throughout the evening.
Multiple witnesses at the river said they saw someone in the water. Police said a woman was reported missing around the same time that the search started.
Crews set up multiple checkpoints along the shore all the way past Riverdale. Officials had not reported whether the woman had been found as of Tuesday morning but said they are sending divers into the water to continue the search.
"Experienced swimmers or kayakers could struggle in this. But somebody that was just out and about and fell in — it's very dangerous," Weber Deputy Fire Chief David Reed told KSLTV on Monday.
