ST. GEORGE — The second temple in St. George, the Red Cliffs Utah Temple, will be dedicated on March 24, 2024, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Monday.

The open house for the temple will run from Jan. 30, 2024, to March 2, 2024.

President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the church's First Presidency, will dedicate the temple. It will be dedicated in two sessions that will be broadcast to church buildings in the Red Cliffs Utah Temple district.

The St. George Temple recently finished renovations, and it is open for tours for anyone until Nov. 11 before its rededication on Dec. 10 — which will be its third dedication.

The Red Cliffs Utah temple was announced in October 2018, and construction began in November 2020 after a groundbreaking overseen by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Renovations began on the nearby St. George temple in Nov. 2019. Members of the church in the St. George region have traveled outside of the city for a temple for almost four years, but they will soon have two open temples in their city.

Utah currently has 28 temples either in operation, under construction or announced.

As of general conference earlier this month, when President Russell M. Nelson announced 20 more temples, there were 335 temples either announced, under construction or renovation, or dedicated around the world.
