ST. GEORGE — The St. George Utah Temple will be rededicated on Dec. 10, according to an announcement from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The First Presidency announced Monday the temple will have an open house from Sept. 15 to Nov. 11. Two dedicatory sessions on Dec. 10 will be broadcast to all congregations in the St. George Utah Temple district.

This will be the third dedication of the temple in its history.

The St. George temple was the first temple to be completed in Utah and was originally dedicated in 1877. It underwent renovation and was rededicated in 1975 by President Spencer W. Kimball.

President Russell M. Nelson announced in October 2018 all pioneer-era temples would be renovated, and the St. George temple closed for its updates in November 2019.

The St. George Utah Temple is one of 28 temples in Utah either in operation, under construction or being renovated.
