PLEASANT GROVE — A Pleasant Grove woman is accused of sexually abusing a young girl that she held a position of trust over.
The disturbing case came to light after an American Fork man was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected child pornography allegedly created by the woman, according to a police booking affidavit.
Alison Lynn Murphy, 35, was charged Monday in 4th District Court with sodomy on a child, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all first-degree felonies.
The alleged abuse happened in 2020, according to charging documents. Murphy was in a position of special trust over a 5-year-old girl, the charges state. Court documents do not say what that position was.
On Oct. 4, Nathan Jimenez, 50, of American Fork, allegedly entered Murphy's apartment without being invited. Police say Jimenez and Murphy used to be in a consensual sexual relationship. Jimenez was arrested and charged in 4th District Court with trespassing.
On Oct. 12, as Jimenez was preparing to post bail to get out of jail, his wife — who filed for a protective order after his arrest — started gathering his belongings to give to him, the affidavit states.
"While collecting Nathan's property, an envelope was found in Nathan's dresser," the affidavit states.
In the envelope were eight pictures that had been "printed on plain letter-sized paper," that were child pornography, the affidavit states. Jimenez told police that the pictures were given to him by Murphy. When questioned, Murphy "admitted to producing the images," her charging documents state.
On Monday, Jimenez was charged with an additional eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
