American Fork defense pushes back Orem's late upset bid
Dylan Story had already thrown for 285 yards and two touchdowns, but when American Fork looked to clinch Friday night's Week 2 contest against visiting Orem in the KSL.com Game of the Week, all he could do was watch.Why did we choose this game?
Who doesn't love a top-10 matchup in Week 2 of action?
The 10th-ranked Orem Tigers travel 10 miles north to take on the fourth-ranked American Fork Cavemen, who are coming off a big 42-14 win over an overmatched Roy team in Week 1. And though the two teams compete in different classifications of football, the action of the field Friday should be entertaining ... at least we hope.
American Fork quarterback Dylan Story threw three touchdown passes last week in its win and has the Cavemen poised for another good weekend against a fellow Utah County opponent. He'll get the opportunity to protect his home field against an Orem team hungry to go 2-0 on the season.
Orem enters the game coming off a fortuitous ending to its Week 1 matchup against East, in which the Leopards missed a point-after attempt that would have tied up the game after a last-minute touchdown. The Tigers also needed a second-half comeback to even pull out a 21-20 win. Orem can contend with American Fork, but there will need to be a better defensive effort.
