WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley police officer was hospitalized Friday with injuries suffered in a traffic accident. Two other people suffered minor injuries.

The officer was driving through the intersection of 5600 West and 3500 South about 5:35 a.m. when the officer's car was hit in the middle of the intersection, said West Valley Police Lt. Robert Brinton.

The officer was being checked out for possible head injuries and internal bleeding, Lt. Brinton said, but the extent of the officer's injuries was not confirmed. The officer is in stable condition,police said.

Unified police are investigating the crash. Police were also gathering details from witnesses at the scene.

Brinton said there were no signs of impairment involved in the crash and the drivers of the vehicles were cooperating.
