WEST VALLEY CITY — A 18-year-old woman was shot while driving in her car in the early morning on Sunday in West Valley City by people standing by the street, police said.

Lt. Steve Burke with West Valley Police Department said the woman was shot in the shoulder and her injuries are not life threatening. Police were called at 1:32 a.m.

Burke said the victim was driving northbound on 3200 West, and when she reached 2700 South there were nine poeple standing on the side of the road. The victim told officers those people started open firing on her car and that the attack was unprovoked.

He said her injuries are not life threatening.

Currently, police do not have any information about a suspect. Burke asked anyone who may have seen anything to reach out to West Valley City police.
