SALT LAKE CITY — One man has been arrested and Salt Lake police continued looking for a second man Tuesday night in connection with a shooting at motel parking lot that left a third man in life-threatening condition, all allegedly over a cigarette.
Just after 10 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the Wasatch Inn, 1416 S. State, a confrontation between two men resulted in one man, 38, being shot in the head, according to a police booking affidavit.
"The victim was not conscious and not breathing when police arrived," the affidavit states, while adding that the man was taken to a local hospital but "is not expected to survive the gunshot wound to the head."
The man's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Tuesday afternoon, Thomas Leory Glasker, 71, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted murder and obstructing justice.
Witnesses told police that the victim was having a dispute with a woman and her boyfriend over a cigarette, according to the affidavit.
"During this altercation, an eyewitness told police that they observed (Glasker) hand the co-defendant a firearm. The co-defendant then shot the victim in the back of the head as the victim was walking away," the affidavit states.
Glasker then drove the alleged gunman away from the scene.
Salt Lake police believe the alleged shooter is 60-year-old Joseph Marquez. Police say he should be "considered armed and dangerous."
Maquez is a six-foot-tall Hispanic man with a medium build, according to police. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
