RIVERDALE — Police in Weber County on Friday arrested a man wanted in a child rape investigation after asking for the community's help finding him the previous night.

Bryce Tyler, 53, was booked into Weber County Jail for investigation of aggravated rape of a child, forcible sodomy of a child, aggravated forcible sexual abuse of a child and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Police found Tyler while he was leaving the Riverdale area in a vehicle and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. A caller had reported seeing him, and officers were waiting in the area watching for him, Riverdale Assistant Police Chief Casey Warren said. Tyler was arrested without incident.

Police said they went to a home searching for Tyler and to conduct a search warrant on Thursday.

"Due to the suspect's prior criminal history and mitigating factors, the Ogden Metro SWAT Team was called out to execute the search warrant. The suspect wasn't located inside the residence," according to a statement from Riverdale police.

Police said Tyler was potentially armed with a weapon, and investigators asked the public to contact police if they knew where he was.

As of Friday, charges have not been filed in connection to a child rape case. Details about the case being investigated have not been released.

In 2015, Tyler pleaded guilty to two counts of endangerment of a child or elder adult, a third-degree felony, after police say his daughter brought methamphetamine in a pipe to school. Police said in court documents they found more meth and drug paraphernalia in Tyler's home, where a 1-year-old and 2-year-old also lived.

Court records show in 2018, Tyler pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender after police said he moved out of Ogden and did not update his registration.
