HURRICANE — A man is dead after a car crash involving three vehicles in Hurricane on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. on state Route 9 near Quail Creek Drive when police say a westbound vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lanes, hitting and killing the driver of a pickup truck.

"There was a silver passenger car that was westbound on state Route 9, and it crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a pickup truck head-on, and then the silver car that passed into the eastbound lane struck another vehicle that was eastbound after striking the pickup truck," Utah Highway Patrol trooper Quincey Breur said.

Breur said the driver of the silver car was a female who was transported to the hospital with injuries, while the male driver of the pickup died at the scene.

The name of the male who was killed has not been released. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
