PAYSON — One person was killed in a fiery rollover crash on I-15 near Payson on Tuesday.

A dump truck hauling boulders blew a tire just before 11 a.m., according to witnesses, causing the vehicle to go into the guardrail and roll onto its side near 800 South, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden. The dump truck caught fire after rolling and was completely engulfed by flames, he said.

The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead on scene. His name has not yet been released.

The far right lane on northbound I-15 was closed in that area, as well as the on-ramp at 800 South, which was expected to open soon, Roden said.
