SALT LAKE CITY — Leos have the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate of any other zodiac sign in Salt Lake County, while Scorpios have the lowest, according to data shared by the county health department this week.

About 70% of Leos are fully vaccinated in Salt Lake County, the Salt Lake County Health Department said Tuesday in a tweet. The next two most-vaccinated signs are Aquarius, with 67% vaccinated, and Aries, with 59%.

But only 46% of Scorpios are fully vaccinated, according to the data. Virgos join Scorpios near the bottom with a vaccination rate of just 50%, while Pisces and Capricorn are both at 51%.

The department's tweet gained some notoriety on Twitter on Tuesday, racking up several thousand likes and retweets. The health department noted that COVID-19 vaccines are backed by science, and aren't influenced by horoscopes in any way. "But come on Scorpios!" said a note at the bottom of the graphic.

The message was light-hearted but had a serious intention, the department explained — there has been fatigue with messaging and public information around vaccines, so health officials are trying to find more creative ways to get information out there.

"What we're really doing is finding new and different ways to keep our community talking about vaccination when there is significant message fatigue around the topic," the department said in a tweet. "We don't think it a waste to find new and different ways to help the community continue talking about vaccination when there is significant fatigue around vaccine messaging."

Overall, just over 59% of Salt Lake County residents are fully vaccinated, according to the Utah Department of Health. About 54% of all Utahns across the state have been fully vaccinated as of Thursday, health department data shows.

Health officials reported 2,340 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
