SALT LAKE CITY — Check back here for the latest scores from all the Week 9 high school football games across the state.
Game of the Week: West at Kearns
Why did we choose this game?
On Thursday night, we witnessed Lone Peak end Corner Canyon's 48-game winning streak in our Thursday night offering of the Game of the Week (yes, there are two this week). While we can't guarantee Friday night's offering will be as thrilling, it's no less important and worthy of a game to pay close attention to this week.
West, which ranks No. 9 in this week's KSL.com High School Top 20+1, enters Friday night's matchup against Kearns undefeated in Region 2 play and needing one win to lock up the region title. But Kearns, which has a 3-1 region record, can make it difficult for West with a win.
The Panthers allow and average of only 8 points per game and want to keep the game low-scoring, whereas the Cougars have allowed opponents an average of 18.8 points per game and have scored no fewer than 32 points in their last five games — West has scored over 32 points only once this season.
Other games we'll be watching:
- Bountiful claims first region title since 2012 in dominating win over Northridge on road
- Region 3: Riverton at Mountain Ridge
