MILLCREEK — A registered sex offender who is already charged with voyeurism in one case and is under investigation in a second voyeurism case, has been arrested after police say he was caught with a mirror in a bathroom stall of a Millcreek business.

George Martin Schliesser, 63, of West Valley City, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of voyeurism and trespassing.

Schliesser entered Home Depot, 3398 S. Highland Drive, on Wednesday and "went directly to the bathroom, not stopping to look at any merchandise," according to a police booking affidavit.

Employees recognized Schliesser, who is currently under investigation for a voyeurism incident at the same store in July, according to Unified police.

When officers arrived, Schliesser had been in the men's room for about 20 minutes and hadn't come out. An officer entered the restroom, waited another five minutes, and then called for Schliesser to come out. When police entered the stall, they found "on the floor, near the stall wall, a toilet brush holder had a mirror positioned on it to be able to see into the neighboring stall," according to the affidavit.

Apart from the two incidents at the Millcreek Home Depot, Schliesser was charged with voyeurism in February of 2020 for an incident at a Salt Lake Home Depot, according to court records. In that case, a 13-year-old boy reported seeing a mirror come under his stall while he was using the restroom, charging documents state, and Schliesser was identified as the suspect based on the color of his shoes and shoelaces and store surveillance video.

He was charged in that case with a class A misdemeanor. His court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

In 1990, Schliesser pleaded guilty to two counts of sodomy on a child and two counts of sex abuse of a child and is currently required to register with the Utah Sex Offender and Kidnap Registry.
