Game of the Week: Orem at Skyridge

Skyridge posts 4th consecutive shutout in dominant win over Orem

It was another mesmerizing defensive performance, especially by Skyridge (4-0), who held Orem (3-1) scoreless and handed the Tigers its first loss of the season in a 36-0 win for Skyridge.

Why did we choose this game?

In short, it's a matchup between two top-5 teams at or near the top of their respective regions. How can you not be excited about a game that features two teams of that caliber? Both schools enter the week unbeaten with a 3-0 record, with only one capable of holding that unblemished record.

Orem has dominated 5A and has four straight state titles to back it up. The Tigers enter this week tied for fourth in the KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings but have a tough matchup against a Skyridge team that checks in this week tied for second. The Falcons also feature McCae Hillstead at quarterback and is more than capable of putting some points on the board.

A loss doesn't likely hurt Orem's 5A chances, but a win would go a long way in cementing another strong season. If Skyridge wants to compete against Region 4 foes Corner Canyon and American Fork, it has to take care of business against Orem ahead of region play.
