AROUND THE ASSOCIATION — Jimmer Fredette was back in the NBA — or at least, the NBA Summer League.
The Denver Nuggets announced the former BYU star was added to the team's summer league roster Tuesday, six weeks after reports surfaced that the Chinese Basketball Association will not allow foreign players at the start of next season.
That meant that Fredette, who was drafted No. 10 overall in 2011 by the Sacramento Kings, could be looking for a new team for the upcoming season after spending most of his time with the Shanghai Sharks since 2016. He signed with the Nuggets' summer league squad Tuesday night, and was officially added to the roster.
But less than 24 hours later, Fredette was taken off the roster "due to a last-minute issue," according to Mike Singer, Nuggets beat writer for the Denver Post. The Nuggets haven't formally commented on the move, but he is no longer listed on the team's Summer League roster.

In addition to China and Sacramento, the 2011 Associated Press Player of the Year and Naismith Award winner has spent time in Chicago, New Orleans and New York, in addition to winning a Greek League title with Panathinaikos in 2019-20.
A three-time CBA All-Star and 2017 International MVP, Fredette averaged 37.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game with the Sharks in 2016-17, shooting 52.5% from the field and 39.6% from three.

Former BYU star Yoeli Childs signs with Lakers
After spending last season with the Erie Bayhawks in the NBA G League, Yoeli Childs will come back west to take another shot at the NBA.
The former BYU star will play with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, the team announced Monday in unveiling its NBA summer league roster.
Childs joins fellow West Coast Conference alum Joel Ayayi on the Lakers' roster.
In his second professional season, Childs spent his rookie year with the Erie Bayhawks. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward from Bingham High School averaged 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 12 games played last season, shooting 53.7% from the field and averaging 20.1 minutes per game.
The Lakers will open the California Classic at 6 p.m. MT against Miami on Aug. 3 in Sacramento, California. That four-team event will also feature the host Kings and the Golden State Warriors.
The Utah Jazz will field two rosters in this year's Salt Lake City Summer League, and in addition to filling the roster with fringe Jazz players and Salt Lake City Stars players, former Runnin' Ute guard and San Diego graduate Isaiah Wright will also return to SLC for summer play after spending last year with Stockton in the G League.
