SOUTH JORDAN — A Magna man was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting at another vehicle on the Mountain View Corridor.

Cody Mikel Davis, 21, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and charged on Tuesday in 3rd District Court with discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony.

Two adults and two juveniles were headed south on the highway near 11500 South when Davis drove up behind them in a Subaru and flashed his headlights at them, according to a police affidavit.

"The Subaru cut (the driver) off and slammed on his brakes making him come to a stop," according to charging documents.

Davis then "leaned out the window and pointed a black handgun out the window and fired one shot," the charges state.

No one was injured by the shot.

A person in the targeted vehicle took a picture of Davis' car, including the license plate number, the affidavit states. Police used it to find Davis and arrest him. A handgun was also recovered, according to police.

After he was arrested, Davis claimed the other driver "was yelling at him and punching his vehicle and would not leave him alone, so he shot once into the dirt to scare him," the charges state.
