SOUTH JORDAN — A man was arrested over the weekend after police say they found him trespassing inside a house where 20 pounds of highly explosive materials were discovered earlier this year.
Aaron Mitchell Norris, 36, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Saturday for investigation of trespassing.
South Jordan police were called that morning to 3371 W. Snow Moon Place on a report of a "suspicious circumstance." The house has been closed to occupancy since homeowner Ryan Lynn McManigal, 42, was arrested during a dramatic confrontation with police, followed by the discovery of bombs and bomb-making materials in the residence.
In October, another man was injured in an explosion after going inside the house. The home remained condemned at the time of the incident, according to police and fire officials.
"The house has been deemed unsafe with fences surrounding the property, the doors and windows boarded up," according to a police affidavit.
But on Saturday, officers received reports that someone had entered the structure.
"As officers began checking the location for the suspect, it was apparent there were signs of forced entry throughout the property. The fence surrounding the property was pushed out to allow entrance. Furthermore, the basement door to the residence was broken in," the affidavit states.
Police say Norris was spotted inside the house and he was arrested.
