LOW-BUDGET FANTASYLAND — Ever since I was a kid, I could perfectly visualize exactly the way I wanted to build something.

For example, I built snow caves in my yard all day, every day for a few years. The entire yard was just stand-alone snow forts.

I then once decided I was going to build the snow fort to end all snow forts. This thing was going to have multiple levels, individual rooms that served different purposes, and was going to be a spider web of tunnels throughout the yard.

I started in and quickly the dream in my head that seemed very feasible fell apart. By the time I was done, I could only fit a third of my body inside and the roof had collapsed, so I grabbed a white sheet from inside and draped it over the top. What's really sad is this abomination to snow forts took me hours.

I bring this up because to this day I fall victim to grand dreams and lack of execution, but not this family.

COVID-19 has closed Disneyland, which is a real downer for many. But the makers of this video decided if they couldn't make it to the land of Walt, they'd bring it to them. Or rather, build it in the backyard.

While it's not as big as the real one in California, this family built the Matterhorn rollercoaster behind their house. I've seen homemade rollercoasters before and while fun they're not always wildly impressive. This one hits both. If you'd like to read a full breakdown of how and why they made the coaster, click here.

Not only did they go out of their way to make it look like a mountain, but they included the waterfalls, bridges and even the Yeti. Now that's going above and beyond.

Enjoy the video and long for a Disneyland vacation while I live out my childhood and sometimes adult aspirations of building something awesome in my yard through this video.
