Editor’s note: This article is part of a series where we thank the Unexpected Heroes who put themselves at risk to keep Utah running during the coronavirus pandemic. Every Monday, we'll highlight a different industry and ask you to write in to thank the workers in that industry for their service. During the week, we'll profile someone who works in that industry. Every Friday, we'll publish some of your submissions and send the messages of thanks to those in the field.

SALT LAKE CITY — Here's some homework for you: Help us thank Utah's teachers.

Many of our early memories are of the teachers who helped us learn how to count, then multiply, then navigate the quadratic equation; they helped us learn to write words, then sentences, then structure essays and formulate arguments.

From principals to veteran teachers, college professors to those whose first year included transitioning to remote teaching in a pandemic, we want to thank the educators who tirelessly keep teaching Utah students.

Under normal circumstances, teachers put in long hours to make sure their students get the educational foundations they need for success. Then just months ago, teachers around the world scrambled to set up remote learning for students as schools and universities closed their doors during the coronavirus pandemic.

It's teacher appreciation week! So here's your chance to thank Utah's Unexpected Heroes who are teachers. Hundreds of you reached out to thank Utah's Unexpected Heroes in health care, in grocery stores and in the trucking industry. We're sure Utah's teachers also want to hear from you.

Fill out the form below to let your neighbors who work in education know how much you appreciate all they do.
