Editor’s note: This article is part of a series where we thank the Unexpected Heroes who put themselves at risk to keep Utah running during the coronavirus pandemic. Every Monday, we will highlight a different industry, and we'll ask you to write in to thank the workers in that industry for their service. Every Friday, we will publish some of your submissions and send the messages of thanks to those in the field.

SALT LAKE CITY — Imagine a world without the trucking industry.

No more same-day delivery. No more ordering wants and needs from the comfort of your couch. Grocery shelves, often bare in a coronavirus world, would remain bare. Restaurants would have no way to get food to make your delivery order. Gas stations would eventually run dry, leaving many without transportation.

Because truckers do what they do, we're not only able to survive in many cases, we're also able to meet many of our wants, even during a global pandemic.

This week, we're thanking Utah's Unexpected Heroes in the trucking industry. Truckers cross state lines, braving illness hotspots, putting their health at risk and logging thousands of miles to bring Utahns food and essentials.

Fill out the form below to let your neighbors who are in the trucking industry know how much you appreciate their hard work.

Hundreds of you responded last week when we asked you to thank the Unexpected Heroes in grocery stores, and we expect just as many of you will reach out this week.

By taking 5 minutes to fill out this form, you can help those who are running our community and improve your own situation while doing it. Research shows that regularly practicing gratitude leads to a ton of positive outcomes, including joy, satisfaction and overall mental wellness.
