SALT LAKE CITY — Ivanka Trump will be a keynote speaker for the Consumer Technology Association's 2020 Consumer Electronics Show — the largest technology conference in the world.

According to a CES press release, Trump will be speaking on Tuesday, Jan. 7, on “The Path to the Future of Work” alongside the Consumer Technology Association CEO, Gary Shapiro. They’ll discuss “employer-led strategies to reskill workers, create apprenticeships and develop K-12 STEM education programs.”

The release cites Trump’s role as advisor to President Donald Trump, where she focuses on the “economic empowerment of women and their families as well as job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training and entrepreneurship,” according to the White House website. She also works as the co-chair of the National Council for the American Worker with United States Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, which forwards Trump administration efforts to create a skilled, competitive and future-focused workforce.

“CES has consistently proven to be one of the most influential technology events in the world and I am excited to join this year for a substantive discussion on the how the government is working with private sector leaders to ensure American students and workers are equipped to thrive in the modern, digital economy,” Ivanka Trump said in a statement.

Shapiro added: “As a business leader and entrepreneur, Ivanka Trump is an advocate for creating family-sustaining jobs through workforce development, education and skills training. We welcome her to the CES keynote stage, as she shares her vision for technology’s role in creating and enabling the workforce of the future.”

CTA additionally cited its Apprenticeship Coalition and job retraining efforts, job creation initiatives, and signage of the White House’s Pledge to America’s Workers as commitments to developing tech investment in the U.S. workforce in coming years.

Trump joins other scheduled keynote speakers such as Samsung President and CEO of Consumer Electronics Division Mr. Hyun-Suk Kim, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, and NBCUniversal Chairman of Advertising and Partnerships Linda Yaccarino, among others.

The CES conference, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, each January, presents tech industry leaders an opportunity to unveil new products and discuss the industry, while tech enthusiasts can witness the field’s latest and greatest inventions. KSL.com’s 2019 CES conference can be found here.
