LEHI — The city of Lehi announced Sunday that it is investigating an overnight shooting outside a McDonald’s that left one person injured and three juveniles in custody.
Police responded to reports of an altercation just after midnight at Main Street and 850 East, according to a city statement. During the course of a verbal and physical fight, a juvenile male drew a gun and fired one round, grazing a male in the side of the head.
He was transported to the hospital with “non-critical injuries,” the city said.
All involved individuals fled the scene but were apprehended by police. Three were taken into custody and taken to Provo’s Slate Canyon Youth Center.
The others involved were “cited and released to their parents.”
Police do not believe the incident was gang-related and say the juveniles involved did not know each other before the fight. As the case involves minors, police say they will not release the names of those involved.
