BUDAPEST — Opening this weekend in theaters is “Gemini Man,” a high-powered, fast-paced action-thriller from director Ang Lee.

The film stars “twin” Will Smiths. The actor plays both an older and younger version of the same character in the movie, with some help from digital de-aging technology.

While the technology is impressive and the action is exciting, a bland story and mediocre acting prevent the movie from being truly successful. You can read the full KSL.com review of the film by clicking this link.

Here’s some information on what content you can expect to see in the film to help you decide if the movie is appropriate for you and your family.

Sexuality

This film is fairly innocuous in this category, aside from some mild romantic tension between the two leads.

In one scene, a female character strips down to her undergarments when a male character insists on searching her person for spy devices. Other than that, there is little to no romantic or sexual content.

Language

Offensive language in this film is frequent, but not gratuitous or pervasive. It’s fairly in line with a typical PG-13 rated film.

There is one instance of the F-word, used as the punchline of a joke. The rest of the profanity includes a couple dozen utterances of other PG-13-level swears and expressions.

Violence

“Gemini Man” includes long stretches of prolonged spy-thriller action and fight scenes. It is an action-packed film and includes more fight scenes than normal dialogue scenes.

Smith’s character is a high-level, sharpshooting assassin, and much of the movie’s violence centers around his ability to shoot people. There is a great deal of gunfighting and hand-to-hand combat in this film, and a lot of deaths.

A moderate amount of blood is shown, mostly in the form of characters patching their wounds after the fights. Many of the more grisly moments happen off-screen: a character has his teeth knocked out, but it’s not shown; a character has his arm punctured with a knife to remove a computer chip, but it happens mostly off-screen.

A train passenger is killed when a character shoots him through the neck. The death isn’t shown, but the bloody aftermath is briefly shown in the form of a cell phone video.

Intensity

As previously mentioned, many of the action sequences here are long and intense. There aren’t many jump scares or traditionally scary horror-style scenes, but some moments could be frightening or surprising for some viewers.

Viewers of “Gemini Man” will be sitting through long fight scenes for the majority of this movie and hearing many gunshots and explosions.

Conclusion

“Gemini Man” is a typical PG-13 level action film. None of the content is too graphic or severe, but it’s definitely aimed at adults; some of the more intense moments of this movie may not be suited for younger kids.

Viewers can expect a similar action-thriller experience as other movies in the genre, such as the “Mission: Impossible” or James Bond series.

“Gemini Man” is rated PG-13 for violence and action throughout and brief strong language.
