EUREKA, Juab County — Funeral services for the two teenagers whose bodies were located and recovered from an abandoned mine last week were announced Monday.
One of the services for Riley Powell and Brelynne "Breezy" Otteson will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tintic High School, 525 E. Main St., and the second will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at an LDS Church located at 189 S. Coleman St., according to a family Facebook page dedicated to finding justice for their deaths.
Otteson was described as having a "larger than life personality" and loved music, parties, sports and spending time with her family, according to her obituary. Powell "truly lived life to the fullest" and loved motorsports and adventure, according to his obituary.
"Riley loved his family, pets, and he loved Breezy," his family wrote in the obituary.
Powell and Otteson’s bodies were recovered from a Tintic Standard Mine Wednesday after authorities began a search of the mine on Tuesday, March 27.
"For us, we're bringing the kids home. That's where we're at right now. We're finally getting that closure," Amanda Hunt, Otteson’s aunt, told KSL after the bodies were located and recovered from the mine.
Both were reported missing Jan. 2 after not being seen or heard from since Dec. 30. Jerrod William Baum, 41, of Mammoth, was arrested on March 28 on suspicion of murder in connection with their deaths.
Morgan Reannon Henderson, 34, of Mammoth, was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail Friday on suspicion of obstruction of justice. Utah County sheriff’s officials said Henderson denied to detectives that she had seen or heard from the couple after they were last seen Dec. 30.
Henderson was arrested March 25 on an unrelated incident and told Sanpete County sheriff’s detectives she was with Baum when he killed Powell and Otteson, sparking the search of the mine that led to the recovery of their bodies, according to a police affidavit.
