SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett of Utah says that while his pancreatic cancer is inoperable, his tumor has not grown and he's been cleared to return to a full work schedule soon.
The 82-year-old Bennett said in a statement released Wednesday that there are no guarantees for his future but there are some indications radiation therapy has helped.
He has been working some since his cancer diagnosis in February but says he'll return to a normal schedule once he rebuilds his stamina.
Bennett is a Republican who lost a GOP nomination to Mike Lee at a party convention during his 2010 re-election bid.
Before that, Bennett served in the U.S. Senate for 18 years.
Since his election loss, he's been running a consulting firm and working as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C.
