KITTY CITY — No matter how well fed a pet is, it’s not surprising when they come running if they hear the rustle of a treat bag or the pop of an opening can.
But watching an obviously excited cat named Joey come running and loudly mewing when he hears the shake of water in a spray bottle is not something you see everyday. Let’s face it, we mostly see videos cats drinking from toilets or straight from the tap.
Joey not only comes running for the bottle, he clutches it tightly between his paws and pulls the nozzle snugly into his mouth. His owner then sprays the water into her cat’s mouth, and Joey laps it up like it’s the freshest cream from the farm.
Joey’s owner, YouTube user Hilary D, explains on her channel that Joey is not sick or dehydrated. She puts out fresh water for Joey every day, and his yearly checkups prove that he’s a healthy and happy cat. So Joey’s almost desperation to get at the spray bottle has nothing to do with his health or dehydration, “this is just his favorite way to drink it,” she said.
Joey must simply like the sensation of water being squirted into his mouth. Which works out for us, because we like the sensation of watching this equal parts funny and aww-worthy video.
