DRAPER — A major crash involving several vehicles killed one person and injured many others.

At about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the accident occurred when a 40-year-old man in a pickup truck ran a red light on Lone Peak Parkway at 12300 South, police said. Six other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Police confirmed one fatality. A minor in the same vehicle as the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. An unknown number of people were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The names of the victim and those who were injured have not been released.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to the hospital in critical condition and was later stabilized. His name has not been released.

Witnesses waited to be allowed back in their cars, but they said no one on the scene hesitated to help.

"It was a little scary," said Stella Iriye, a witness to the accident. "First thing everybody was doing was getting out of the car to help the people that were injured. So you saw a lot of good people out there helping."

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
