PROVO — He took a risky bet, and lost.

Andrew Wilcox and his brother Benjamin Wilcox played a game of basketball recently and decided to up the ante by making a little friendly wager: if he lost, he would have to dance to whatever music his brother chose on the corner of Bulldog and State Street in Provo.

For what he calls the first time ever, Andrew lost, and true to his word, stood on the corner of Bulldog Avenue and State Street in Provo for 30 minutes, dancing his heart out.

"When I was dancing by myself, it was so embarrassing that I couldn't control my laughter," Andrew Wilcox said. "As soon as the other people joined, it was somewhat validating because I knew I wasn't alone and that I wasn't going to look like a complete idiot to the people driving by."

A few passers by joined in, and the street-corner dance jam for one turned into an impromptu party among strangers.

"I told Independent Import and Sales, a mechanic shop on the corner, what I was doing. The two girls who joined me came from that mechanic shop. I had a cardboard sign that said, 'No donations accepted, company welcome' and with no further prompting, the first girl ran out to join me," he said. "We convinced a friend of mine to join me (the only other guy in the video). He came only to watch, but with a little arm twisting he came out. The first girl convinced the other girl to join. The dog was owned by the mechanic and he called it back in as soon as it ran out there."

The video has gone big on YouTube, garnering over 100,000 views since it was posted Feb. 25, 2014.
