GILBERT, Ariz. — The public will get a look inside the Gilbert Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints beginning this weekend.
The public open house begins Saturday, Jan. 18 and continues through Feb. 15, excluding Sundays.
The 85,000 square foot building is the largest temple the church has constructed in 17 years, according to Mormon Newsroom.
The temple features an ivory-colored exterior with precast concrete and stone, accentuated with rustications and art glass windows.
Since the groundbreaking in November 2010, about 60,000 people have visited the construction site's viewing and display area to learn more about the purpose of the temple, Mormon Newsroom reported.
The temple will be dedicated March 2.
This will be the church's 142nd operating temple worldwide.
Other temples in Arizona are in Mesa, Snowflake and the Gila Valley.
A fifth temple is under construction in Phoenix and another has been announced for Tucson.
