SALT LAKE CITY— Movies have a way of creeping into our minds and making us truly care for the characters and their story. Often we get so attached that we can't help but bawl like a baby when one of those characters dies. Next thing we know it's three days later and we're still in mourning.

For the past few days the hashtag #FictionalDeathsIWillNeverGetOver has been trending on Twitter and we at ksl.com decided to ride the coattails of Twitter and tug at your heartstrings.

While there are many film deaths that sidelined us for a few days these five are the ones most mentioned on Twitter, and yes, they are traumatizing.

Much like the story we did a few months back, "5 movies guys can cry at," you're allowed to sob during these moments.

Needless to say, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

G-Baby - Hardball

The 2001 film "Hardball" starring Keanu Reeves isn't exactly an amazing movie, but it has its moments, and one in particular will rip your heart out.

In the film Reeves plays a gambling drunk who starts coaching a little league team from a housing project in Chicago.

During the film you fall in love with the smallest kid on the team, G-Baby. He may be tiny, but he's got a big heart and of course, whenever you're in love with a character, he gets killed.

The scene is terribly sad and watching a kid get killed during crossfire will get your water works going. Truth be told, I don't remember much about the film, but I remember that scene messed me up for days.

Dobby - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

It seems we could have picked a myriad of different deaths in the Harry Potter series, but according to fans on Twitter the death of the little elf Dobby was the one that got everyone sobbing.

J.K. Rowling felt it necessary to kill just about everyone in the books, but watching little Dobby die in Harry Potter's arms was both aggravating and tragic.

Little Dobby was nothing but a gem and he gets killed as he saves Harry Potter's life, what a nightmare. For some reason when something small in a movie dies it's way worse and Dobby is no exception.

Maybe you want to take a minute to mourn for Dobby and curse Rowling before you move on to the next name on the list.

Ellie - Up

Pixar's "Up" is an amazing movie and it manages to get you to start crying like a newborn in the first few minutes.

This one popped up a lot on Twitter and that's no surprise. Watching Carl and Ellie's story is both brilliant and possibly the saddest thing you'll ever experience.

The writers knew how to make you smile and totally take advantage of your fragile emotions. Jerks.

You can watch that clip a thousand times and you'll cry no matter what. And if you don't, then you have no soul.

Sam - I Am Legend

This one and the next one were really ties. People shared this moment in "I Am Legend" on Twitter as much as the next entry on the list.

Will Smith gives an amazing performance in "I Am Legend" and his only real co-star in the film is a dog. The dog becomes an integral part of the story and quite possibly your favorite character in the movie.

When Sam gets infected with the virus Will Smith's character, Robert, knows he has to kill his best friend.

Watching Smith hold his dog like a baby for the last time right before he kills him is beyond heartbreaking. The scene rips your heart out, throws it on the ground, tosses it in a blender, places it back in your chest and then rips is out again.

I don't even like dogs and this moment got my popcorn soggy as salty tears dripped into the 12-gallon bucket of buttered goodness.

Man, I can't watch that clip again, if you are a glutton for punishment the video is attached to the story.

Mufasa - The Lion King

The next most shared movie moment on Twitter was the death of the true lion king, Mufasa.

For those of you who were born around the time I was, 1983, this scene messed with your childhood. I will never forget being 11 years old and watching Mufasa fall to his death. While that was traumatizing, it was only a prelude to the absolutely demoralizing moment when Simba tries to wake up his dad.

My word, my fingers are going to start crying as I type this.

The moment is one of the saddest things I've ever witnessed in a theater and whenever I see it or think about it I'll be reverted to my 11-year-old self and recall those feelings. Man Disney really messed me up.

When the movie ends Simba becomes king and has a family, but I didn't care. All I could think about is how epically sad watching Mufasa die was.

Between Mufasa and Sam I'm not sure how I ever went to go see another movie knowing that at any moment they could just kill off an adorable dog or the king of the jungle.

Well, there you have it, 5 movie deaths we'll never get over. What others come to mind? Let us know on the comment boards, Facebook or send me an email.
