LONDON -- While the Olympics are coming to a close one man from Syracuse, Utah, is going to cross the English Channel.

Gordon Gridley is set to swim the legendary body of water. The White Cliffs of Dover look over the river and Alan Neves was there to capture it.

Gridley grew up in Salt Lake and is the father of seven kids with his wife Cathi. He chronicles his swimming adventure on his blog.

The English Channel is about 21 miles wide in the Strait of Dover.
