FARMINGTON, UTAH (AP) -- A 15-year-old from Fruit Heights was electrocuted yesterday while climbing a transformer tower on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

The Davis County sheriff's office says Scott Nye had climbed about two-thirds of the 70-foot-tall metal tower, reaching a crossbar that serves as a platform. Once there Nye stood and put his hands up in the air before being electrocuted.

Police investigators aren't sure if Nye touched the 46,000-volt power line above him, or if the line arced.

After being electrocuted, Nye fell about 50 feet to the ground. He was declared dead at the scene.

Four others with Nye were not injured.
