SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has made two key education appointments.

Phil Clinger has been appointed to the University of Utah Board of Trustees and Wilford Clyde has been appointed to the State Board of Regents.

Clinger will replace Randy Dryer, who recently stepped down after serving several terms. Clinger is a Salt Lake resident and U. alumnus, class of 1967. He is a retired vice president for Merrill Lynch and currently serves on the U.'s National Advisory Council and Financial Advisory Committee.

Clyde will replace Brent Brown on the State Board of Regents. A lifelong resident of Springville and the city's current mayor, Clyde graduated from Brigham Young University and is the president and CEO of Clyde Companies Inc., which includes Geneva Rock, Beehive Insurance and others.

Both Clinger and Clyde will serve four-year terms.
