SALT LAKE CITY -- The film that made the Lehi Roller Mills famous is getting a makeover.
"Footloose" was one of the biggest hits of the 80's and all of us who grew up during that time know the film all too well. City boy Kevin Bacon makes his way to a small town, which just so happens to actually be in Utah County, and finds out that rock music and dancing are banned. Well, the punch-dancing bad boy won't put up with that and starts a rebellion.

Hollywood felt remaking this film we love out of pure nostalgia was absolutely necessary. The trailer for the new "Footloose" has been released and there are two things that really eat at me.
First and foremost is the film was not shot in Utah. I guess we can always hold onto the fact that we are home to the original, but just about everyone from Utah thinks of Lehi when they hear Footloose. The second thing that doesn't sit well is the fact the new film appears to be exactly like the first film, but in 2011. It's not just the plot and the characters that are exactly the same, but a great majority of the iconic shots from the first film are in the trailer for the new film.
I could sit here and list all of the shots that are ripped right from the 1984 hit, but I'll leave that to all of you. Point out on Facebook and our comment boards as many of the shots you see that are pulled from the original.

Granted I haven't seen the new movie, no one has, so I can't say it's awful. It very well could be a lot of fun and super entertaining, especially considering the angry punch-dancing scene has more acrobatics and what appears to be more angst than the first film.
Below you will find the new trailer along with the old trailer so you can catch all of the repeat shots. I also threw in an extra video as a special treat. It just may be the best punch-dance scene ever.
