(KSL News) -- Salt Lake County sheriffs deputies have broken up a theft ring, targeting east bench neighborhoods.
Witnesses told the Sherriff's office they had seen two men smash vehicle windows and steal anything in plain view. The men drove off in a camper style van.
Sheriff's deputies followed that van up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Sgt. Paul Brenneman, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Dept.: "More than likely, they knew they were being followed and tried to divert attention. Obviously the camper van blends well into the canyon."
But deputies arrested them and have booked them into the Salt Lake County Jail.
Investigators don't know how many vehicles and businesses were burglarized, but if you've had something stolen, you can contact the Salt Lake County Sheriff's office.
