Woman says officer obstructed evacuation

With 800 acres down and who knows how many to go, the fire rages on near Draper. One woman says the police response during the evacuation has her blood boiling.

The Draper woman has filed a formal complaint, charging that an officer tried to obstruct her husband from rescuing her 88-year-old mother. "She said, ‘Everybody's got an old mother-in-law, a 90-year-old mother-in-law that's deaf,' and turned my husband away," Christine Mackerell said.

But another officer then allowed Mackerell's husband to enter their house and evacuate her mother. Draper police say Mackerell should have called 911 for help. She says she did.
