OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Weber County's elected officials are refusing to rush the appointment of a mayor and council for the newly incorporated town of Powder Mountain, a ski area with new owners and ambitious development plans.
Commissioners have already rejected a list submitted by the developers of proposed town officials pending a general election.
The county officials say they're holding out for a wider selection of candidates and will take more time to conduct interviews.
Commissioner Ken Bischoff says the developers' list included several related people, including a grandfather and his granddaughter and grandson.
The Weber County commissioners voted reluctantly earlier this month to let Powder Mountain incorporate under a new state law that made it easy for major landowners to do so.
