(KSL News) As the weather heats up, the level in Utah's rivers are increasing and so is the danger.

Today, Salt Lake County Search and Rescue crews were out preparing for what could be a busy summer.

Officials say rivers and streams move faster than many expect, which can make it difficult to get out.

Alan Bergstrom, vice commander with Salt Lake County Search and Rescue, said, "Our canyons are very fast watered, very narrowed. Generally, if someone falls in, were not able to rescue them. Mostly we're getting ourselves prepared for the worst case situation."

Bergstrom is warning people to be careful when around water and to keep a close eye on children.
