Roy man charged with soliciting undercover FBI agent

OGDEN — A man arrested during an FBI online undercover operation had been engaged in conversations with younger girls on social media apps, according to law enforcers.

Thomas Michael Poole, 26, of Roy, was charged Monday in 2nd District Court with enticing a minor and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, both second-degree felonies; and dealing in harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony.

Starting in October and continuing until his arrest on Thursday, Poole communicated on social media with a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl, according to charging documents.

“Poole made arrangements to have sex with this 13-year-old girl in Ogden,” the charges state.

When Poole arrived at the designated meeting place, however, he was arrested by a member of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force who had been posing online as the “girl.”

“Poole agreed and consented to have the FBI search his cellphone where numerous videos of child pornography were found in an online digital storage application. There were also numerous conversations with what appeared to be younger girls on social media applications,” according to charging documents.
