WASHINGTON (AP) -- A new report says Utah has one of the best managed state governments in the country.
The Pew Center on the States says Utah's financial savvy, research and organization earn it a top spot on the 2008 State Management Report Card. Only Virginia and Washington won equally high acclaim.
The three states each received an A-minus grade overall. Utah is the only state to earn an A in each of two categories: money and infrastructure. The report especially lauds Utah's sophisticated financial tracking system.
The report says one of the Utah's shortcomings is its difficulty in recruiting talented workers-- a problem it suggests is due to the hot job market in the state.
