RIVERTON — A small-business owner said she is frustrated and shaken after a woman allegedly stole hundreds of dollars' worth of merchandise right in front of her employee.
The incident happened at Rising Moon Minerals, a small kiosk-style shop located in Mountain View Village, off 13400 South.
According to the owner, Jaime Osbahr, the suspect walked in, appearing to be a normal customer, and spent nearly 45 minutes inside the store. Security video from Friday shows the woman browsing, asking questions and interacting with staff without hesitation.
The owner said there were no warning signs.
"I feel like she was a very skilled thief, like she's done this before. She knew what she was doing and took multiple items rather than one big one," said Osbahr.
Rising Moon Minerals, which has been open for about two years, carries a large collection of crystals, rocks and minerals. Osbahr said the suspect allegedly walked out with roughly $430 worth of merchandise.
"It has destroyed my sense of safety," she said.
She believes this may not be an isolated incident.
"I feel like this isn't the first time she's done this," Osbahr said. "That's why I would like to identify who this person is so that it doesn't perpetuate and doesn't happen to somebody else."

She said she is now trying to alert nearby shops so they can be on guard if the woman enters their stores.
Riverton police confirm detectives are actively working to identify the suspect in the surveillance video.
