SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man was arrested after police say he stabbed his brother and then assaulted an officer.
About 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to 3440 S. 200 East. A witness told police Ndayisenga Vianne, 20, and his brother had gotten into a fight, and as the brother tried to walk away, Vianne stabbed him in the back, according to a police booking affidavit.
"Officers located the victim with four stab wounds, three on his back and one on his hip," the affidavit states. "The stab wounds were approximately 1-2 inches wide and 3 inches deep."
The brother was taken to a local hospital. A police spokeswoman on Thursday said he was "stable."
Vianne was located walking along State Street near 3400 South. Police say he tried running from an officer but was taken into custody near 3434 South.
"While putting the suspect in the back of a patrol car he head-butted an officer in the forehead, causing it to bleed. I asked the suspect what his name was and he spit on me, hitting me on the face," the arresting officer wrote in the affidavit.
Vianne was arrested for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, assault by a prisoner, spitting on an officer, failing to stop at the command of an officer, being a restricted person in possession of a weapon, and failing to give police his identity.
