SALT LAKE CITY — A Las Vegas man was charged Thursday with forcing a woman to go to Salt Lake City to engage in prostitution because he believed business in Utah was good.

Delquan Maurice Danford, 32, is charged in Utah's 3rd District Court with aggravated human trafficking, a first-degree felony.

A woman told investigators that in 2014, while she was living in Las Vegas, Danford "showed her how to 'post herself online' to advertise for sexual service," according to charging documents. Between December 2014 and May 2015, the woman says Danford "would frequently" send her to Utah because he heard it was "good for business."

"Danford sent her to Utah on a one-way ticket, and she never knew how long she would be here," the woman told investigators, while adding that she was expected to fulfill a "quota" and make between $800 to $1,000 each day, according to the charges. "And if she didn't meet her quota, she had to stay in Utah until she earned enough money."

While she was in Salt Lake County, the woman said Danford kept her children with him in Las Vegas. She claims Danford intimidated her by telling her children they would never see their mother again and also threatened to call the woman's mother to tell her that her daughter was prostituting herself, the charges allege.

Furthermore, the woman says she was tattooed with Danford's "brand" on her left forearm, the court documents say, with the word "Greezy," Danford's alias.

"(The woman) reported Danford would 'get violent' every time she told him she no longer wanted to 'work,'" according to the charges.

As proof, she provided investigators with medical records from 2015 when she suffered a head injury caused by Danford after telling him that she was leaving, the charges state.

Salt Lake police said they discovered 19 transactions the woman made in Salt Lake City, sending money to Danford totaling close to $13,000.

Police say Danford has been arrested for investigation of similar crimes in Las Vegas.

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly said Danford was charged Tuesday instead of Thursday.
