(KSL News) A beloved West High School teacher appeared in court today for allegedly having sex with a student.
Jose Fanjul is charged with forcible sexual abuse and forcible sodomy.
His attorney tried to have Fanjul's bail reduced so he could get out of jail, but the judge kept the bail at $200,000.
Fanjul is accused of having numerous sexual encounters with a 17-year-old girl between March and July of this year.
Fanjul is a nationally recognized teacher, praised for his innovative teaching style.
