ELKO, Nev. (AP) -- A Utah man was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the drowning of a Nevada cocktail waitress found dead in a hot tub last year at the West Wendover hotel-casino where he was staying.
Ernest "Kent" Simkins of Salt Lake City was originally charged with first-degree murder in the April 25 death of Bonnie "Poni" Jolin of West Wendover.
He was accused of drowning her following a night of drinking.
An Elko County jury returned the guilty verdict on the manslaughter charge yesterday. Simkins now faces anywhere from one to 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for May 19.
