PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Prosecutors are asking a judge to consider a new sentence in the case of a couple who took their daughter on an involuntary road trip to keep her from her wedding.
Julia and Lemuel Redd pleaded guilty to custodial interference in November in exchange for having the initial kidnapping charge against them dropped.
A judge ordered Julia Redd to undergo a mental evaluation and complete any treatment the doctor recommended. But the doctor who evaluated her says she may not be able to comply with the order because of a mental condition.
Prosecutors filed a motion saying Julia Redd suffers from a condition that rarely responds to treatment. They say if she can't follow the guideline, the judge should re-evaluate the sentence.
The Redds' daughter said her parents took her out shopping the day before her scheduled wedding, then took her to Grand Junction, Colo. She missed the wedding but married her fiance later.
