3 killed, 1 critically injured in West Jordan house fire

WEST JORDAN — Three people were found dead inside a burning home in West Jordan on Friday. One other person was found alive and flown to the hospital in critical condition. At approximately 10:15 a.m., both the West Jordan police and fire department were dispatched to a fire near 8200 S. 6400 West, according to Sgt. Andrew Hercules with West Jordan police. "When there are confirmed individuals deceased in the house, we do the investigation in conjunction with the fire department," Hercules said. [gallery columns="4" ids="798600,798601,798603,798604"] When asked if the scene was a result of a crime, Hercules said investigators could not confirm. "Our investigators are looking into see if this was a criminal event or what happened," Hercules said. "Really, (it's) just about the details of what happened, that's what they're investigating right now." Neighbors were shocked to see the deadly fire unfold. "It's tough, you know? Hearing about all these people... I can't imagine what it feels like to lose people so suddenly," neighbor Zackery Ford said. "I think it makes you appreciate, because tomorrow, you could be gone. So it really helps you to think about what's going on," neighbor Jane Gregerson said. The ages of the victims involved were not known as of Friday evening. Officials closed a roundabout near 8200 South as crews continue to address the fire and its aftermath.
